About Us
The Department of Endocrinology at CMC Vellore is a leading center in India for the treatment of diabetes and endocrine disorders. Recognized as an ICMR Collaborating Centre of Excellence (ICMR-CCoE) for Diabetes, the department began as an Endocrine Clinic within the Department of Medicine in 1985. Following a decade of growth, it became an independent Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism in 1995. Today, it serves nearly 90,000 patients annually from across India and Asia. Outpatient clinics also operate at the CMC Vellore Chittoor campus to cater to patients from Andhra Pradesh. Academically, the department pioneered super-specialty training in South India, initially offering a DNB in Endocrinology, which evolved into a DM in Endocrinology in 2011. Through its clinical services, research, and training programs, the department continues to uphold excellence in patient care, medical education, and endocrine research.
